The Tranquillity Zone is an initiative of the Bahá'í
Community in the United Kingdom, a means of helping people attain inner
peace in this crowded and frenetic world. It works by creating an atmosphere
in which mind, body and spirit are soothed and made tranquil. There
is no special "spiritual technique" involved, no mantra, and no specifically
religious practices.

| It is organised by local communities and offered as a service to the wider public. Anyone organising a Tranquillity Zone is obliged to take care to ensure the safety of participants, and must check that they are covered by the appropriate insurance. Candles and drapes, for instance, can come together to make a fire hazard, and only fire-retardant materials should be used. There should be no candles on the floor, for safety reasons, and only floating candles or enclosed ones to be used. There must be sufficient space for participants to move safely, which means a sensible limit on numbers. Clear standard fire exit signs should also be used. These safety precautions must be taken and sound common sense used in all arrangements. |
