The local and regional media will be interested in the Tranquillity
Zone venture but it requires care to present it to them properly. See
the page on contacting the media about this. Remember that your media
can be print (newspapers), radio, and television.
You can also generate your own leaflets and posters and distribute
them. Useful phrasing for these includes:
The Tranquillity Zone …Discover an oasis of calm and well-being for
your body, mind and soul …The Tranquillity Zone is a multi-sensory experience
of peace and serenity, held in a candlelit setting. It is a place of
rest, reflection and spiritual refuelling, with inspiring words and
soothing music. A welcome escape from the pressures of life.
Don't forget to include a contact telephone number and e-mail address,
and to mention who the organising body is. You might like to include
the URL for this Website www.tranquillity-zone.org.uk as well.
The friends distribute these leaflets around the town, and in public
centres such as libraries, public information centre, music shops and
anywhere else where people agree to display the poster.
If the Tranquillity Zone is being held for or in association with another
organisation, speak to them about joint publicity for it. Two sets of
resources are better than one.
Finally, regarding the media, don't forget you have two chances to
publicise the Tranquillity Zone: before and after. While before is better
in generating interest for this time, more publicity after will help
familiarise people with the Tranquillity Zone concept and make things
easier the next time it is held. Why not do both? If the press send
a photographer or the radio do an interview that is very good, but if
not you can submit a press release afterwards reporting on the Tranquillity
Zone and its success.
